OUR FOUNDERS
Guided by Faith. Grounded in Love. Growing Together in Mission.
Anchor & Serenity was birthed out of the shared vision and deep calling of Andrea and Nelson Chang, a couple whose lives have been devoted to shepherding others toward holistic transformation.

In 2018, Andrea received a clear vision to begin a transformative work that would help people grow in self-awareness, deepen their relationship with God, and experience healing within themselves and across cultures. Together, Andrea and Nelson began shaping what would become Anchor & Serenity, a ministry rooted in spiritual formation, intercultural development, trauma-informed care, and global leadership.

Andrea Chang — Founder, Coach, & Spiritual Director
Andrea is the visionary founder of Anchor & Serenity. A spiritual director, coach, missionary, and pastor, she carries a deep passion to see people grow in self-awareness, intimacy with God, discernment, and relational wholeness. With a Master of Theological Studies and current doctoral work in Spiritual Formation at Tyndale University, Andrea has devoted her ministry to walking with others through seasons of discernment and transformation.

Her trauma-informed and intercultural approach to spiritual care reflects her belief that every person’s story matters, and that God meets us right where we are. Andrea is a certified Intercultural Development Coach and Administrator (IDI®), Intercultural Conflict Styles (ICS®) practitioner, and Spiritual Director with Tyndale Spiritual Formation Centre, and Spiritual Director Supervisor with the Emmaus Society of Spiritual Directors and Peacock Soulcare. She is ordained with the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec.

Nelson Chang — Co-Founder & Leadership Coach
Nelson serves as co-founder and brings a wealth of pastoral and leadership experience to Anchor & Serenity. Born in the U.S. to Hmong refugee parents, Nelson’s own story of migration has given him a deep empathy for people navigating transitions of faith, culture, and identity.

An ordained pastor and regional leader with the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec, Nelson supports pastors and churches through seasons of change with grace, hope, and wisdom. He holds a Master of Theological Studies from Tyndale University and is completing his Doctor of Ministry in Spiritual Formation. Nelson is also a Spiritual Director and a certified Intercultural Development Coach (IDI®) with over a decade of experience in leadership training and community transformation.

Together, Andrea and Nelson embody a shared vision: to see individuals and communities become courageous agents of love, peace, and healing in the world.
